Re: Where did the Cabbies go??
They're dropping like flies, Juan. They're getting sent to the junkyards at a nearly record pace. :( But, there's still plenty out there that are probably spending most of their time hiding in their garages. I saw one on the road in Nor. Ariz. the other day and nearly drove off the road I was in suc...

Re: My 92 mk1 thread
Very nice!
I, for one, am busy with Vanagon stuff these days (just spent a week on the road). That's both a good thing and a bad thing...E30blitz wrote:It's very quite on here

Re: 81 cabby cold start grounds
 What on earth did the previous owner do to your car?! Wow... :screwy: First, your car only ever had one idle boost valve, and it was specifically for the A/C system: http://www.cabby-info.com/images/Engine/80-83CISVacuum.png That black plug just hanging out should go to that missing idle boo...

Re: 81 A/C manual trans cold start/EGR
Brown is always ground in a VW. ;) On your car, simply splice (as in, twist-solder-heat shrink... do it the proper way instead of using crimps) new ground wires onto those two brown/white wires. Then, combine the two wires into a ring terminal and attach it to the cold-start valve bolt on the left (...

Re: Finally some Good News at the TRF-HQ
Fingers crossed for you! :D Bummer about the Sciroccos and A6... :( but TDIs are economical fuel-wise. I've been drooling over the Mk6/Mk7 GTIs... until I read we might just be getting the Golf GTD! I then drooled over it ... until someone had to post about the upcoming Golf/Jetta Sportwagen (which,...

Re: 81 cabby relay qnd fuse panel
It doesn't look like the fuel pump relay fix was done It has not been... one of few I've ever seen. What a lazy first owner that car had! :x Also, replace that A/C fuse, post haste. That's a scary site seeing a copper jumper wire there to bridge the blown fuse... which lost its plastic coating too!...

Re: First wash and drive of the year! My '87...
Beautiful. :D Reminds me of the girl who lived across the street from me back in my SoCal days: She had an '87 Tornado Red Best Seller like yours. It was funny -- Three convertibles across from each other: My white '86, Mom's red '84 and that girl's '87. Be wary of Carfax: It's not always 100% accur...

Re: 1980 (basket case) rabbit convertible
The '80 convertibles used the hard-top version of the dash, including instrumentation. The '80 convertible is quite different from its later counterparts: http://cabby-info.com/images/Interior/80BrazilBrown2.jpg http://cabby-info.com/images/Interior/80ColibriGreen5.jpg vs. http://cabby-info.com/imag...

Re: Stock susp. gettin' squishy, what are my options?
If you want a firmer ride and lowering just a bit, H&R/Bilstein Sport combo is nice. That's what I put on my "going to stay stock!" '86. There are other brands/options out there though. Before (stock): http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v319/jettncab/The%20Princess/IMG_2666.jpg After (S...

Re: Interior lighting (mild, not wild) - Advice? Tips?
I may even try to make the glove box light come on only when opened, so there isn't any light leaking out around the edges. Use a "normally closed" magnetic reed switch... they're awesome! I added one to my Westfalia's kitchen cabinet wired to a stick-on flexible LED strip so I could find...

I've only used them once... no complaints. Why only once? Only because MJM isn't on my radar when I need a part; MJM doesn't usually cross my mind. Of course, now that they're "spamming" Vortex... An update once in awhile, great; but these guys are constantly bumping their threa...
