Re: Synthetic Oil

Yes and Yes
It works great, but I still stick with Mobile1, especially when I can get it for $4.50 a quart.

I generally think all high end synthetics are going to be very similar. These guys tested both Mobile1 and Amsoil in their LS1 Camero. http://neptune.spacebears.com/cars/stor ... -life.html

Re: The past week in Car repiar

ITS ALIVE!!!! for the first time in 3 years or so, I've heard the Cabby rumble! Rebuilt the VWMS fuel distributor this morning, got a good spray pattern on the injectors, and she fired up in about 3 cranks. I still need to set the time, and I found a bit of a coolant leak. The old school Rabbit Hut...

Re: Wow

It's gone pretty well. I've learned that my parts organization (ie none) does have a statute of limitations. I've had to make a couple runs to the wrecking yard for missing bolts (intake manifold), and bought a second set of steering rack bushings after I couldn't find the first ones that were sitti...

Re: Head gasket info

that sounds odd...

but, in any case, same headgasket for all 8v Mk1's.

If you're looking for maybe a bit more oomph, Autotech has a thinner gasket that'll bump your compression ratio a bit. it's an easy bolt on 10hp

Re: Wow

just gotta put the freshened/milled head on, decide between the stock euro downpipe or the TT euro downs (i've got both), rebuild the CV joint I busted... and i'm back on the road. then i might start thinking about a bigger cam..... I've got the head milled .040", and, in addition to the Autote...

Re: curious what weight oils everyone puts in their bunnies.

how you drive it also says what oil you should use. my cabby has been on 15w50 Mobile 1 with Bosch or Mahle filters... I also drive it pretty hard.

Wow

Good to see TRF is still around!

Most may not remember me, but for those that might, yes, I still have the same Cabby. She's been in my garage, in pieces for a few years, and I'm just a couple weekends away of getting her back together. Recon I might stop by a bit more often...

well
if you have a bushing already installed, go with it
i can only recall a single time that i know of someone that didn't have that bushing, and yeah, gave the car some mad starting issues
but for the most part, they don't fail and need replacement

with your setup, nearly any length of cable would work... just wrap a tape measure around the car and add a foot or so. length adjustment could be made while you're securing everything...
