Re: Remove Crankshaft Pully Belt on 85 Cabby

2 questions: Do you need the timing cover top piece on? And what is this below the waterpump? Thx! To answer your first question: No, you do not need the upper timing belt cover. I am not sure what you are asking in the second question. Are you asking what the pulley is for? It looks like it could ...

Re: Remove Crankshaft Pully Belt on 85 Cabby

The difference is probably the alternator. Mine is a new 95A one and it doesn't use a key slot. With the washers I am still grabbing enough thread to be "safe." As for removing the A/C being a PIA I can't say. Mine came out pretty easy, but I hear that is often not the case. With that kit ...

Re: Remove Crankshaft Pully Belt on 85 Cabby

If you go the route I did in deleting the ac there is a guy that I found through the Vortex that does make the extended alt pulleys necessary for proper belt alignment here is the link http://toywagen.com/ You can do what I did with the washers, but truth be told I will most likely end up buying one...

Re: Remove Crankshaft Pully Belt on 85 Cabby

This if from one of my threads were I tackle deleting the A/C and reusing everything you already have to make it work: So its been awhile since I posted in here, but I have fixed my A/C compressor problem for the final time. About two weeks ago (or so) I lost one of the bolts from the compressor to ...

Re: OK, need some input

I was so going to mention that yesterday, but my response was rushed as I was heading out the door to get to class. Back to your bikini top, I think it would be easiest to make it like a tonneau cover and use some ribs going from to the A pillar to the roll bar and then use some snaps to hold it all...

Re: A Re-introduction

Looking good. Been following you on the 'Tex as well. The blue Cabby does make for a pretty good inspiration, but I am glad you are going with bumpers. The header looks like Autotech one to me, but I am unfamiliar with old TT stuff (I am new to VW's). So the Koni's and H&R's handle pretty good? ...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Buster, your sister and my oldest daughter know each other from UMO. Small world. Yes, I'm that old. She seems to know everyone. If your that "old" then that must make my parents old... I don't know how I feel about that. My repairs for the week were pretty simple: Reinstal...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Since you're in Maine, I think it corresponds to about two weeks of rough sledding in July. ;) Haha. I like that one. Hay six, how come we haven't seen any pics of the Cabrio? And how about a certain Dodge Neon? Not asking for picks of the Neon as I already know that car, just wondering how the rep...

I hear yeah. I have good luck with mine, but it is black so it doesn't show the dirt and I am pretty religious when it comes to cleaning the Cabby.

Re: Installing your Top Re-write new pics.

Gotta love red Cabby's with black tops. I have a quick question for you Brian. Why do you never use canvas tops? Quality, cleaning (I assume white canvas, if available, would be hard to keep clean as opposed to the vinyl) or is it just a style choice? I have canvas on mine and I think it looks aweso...
