I'd like it better without the kit.

big wheels=clipper kit

small wheels=no kit, old school...

imho

It still looks good though.

Nice ride!!

I didn't think it looked that good until I saw the pics with the whitewalls. The combo of the whitewalls, salt flat discs, and white top really makes that car pop! It looks awesome. 8)

Sounds like the solenoid is sticking. Give it a whack with a hammer and see if it starts. If that doesnt work, put the car in neutral, and use a screwdriver to jump the battery terminal on the starter to the small lead that goes to the solenoid. Make damn sure it's in neutral though.

Did later cabbys come factory with close ratio?

I have an 87 cabby with a close ratio tranny, a 9A. Is it supposed to have a close ratio? The tranny is going to go soon, syncronizers are shot, big pices of metal were stuck to the drain plug when I drained it today and it grinds going into 3rd and 4th. I'd like to replace it with a wider ratio, th...

Oh believe me, I'm cheap.

How did you make yours?

I don't know if mine needs replacement, but going from everything else on this car it probably will.

Installing a new top, is it very difficult?

I'm pretty good when it comes to mechanical things, heck I can fix just about anything, cars, bikes, plumbing, electrical, computers, etc. But I can't properly make a bed, or even fold a shirt properly. I downloaded a pdf on replacing a cabby top, and it doesn't seem like it would be that dif...

Any online Canadian parts resources?

I'm wondering if there are any good Canadian online retailers of cabby parts or just VW parts in general?

clutch cable question..

Hello all. New to the forum here. I've owned and wrenched on plenty of air and water cooled VWs in the past. After 6 years away from them, I've finally come back. 8) So I picked up a rough 87 Cabby for $400, it needs some work, but it runs and drives and has potential. I have a problem with the clut...
