Re: Gauge / Radio swap

Interesting gauge positioning, there. I've known people who liked to twist them so all the needles pointed straight up or straight across under normal driving conditions, but there seems to be some other theory at work here... ;) Yep, the theory of gravity! None of the gauges were tied down a...

Re: Alternator ?'s

Alternators rarely good bad slowly. They usually die a horrible noisy death. If it's going bad slowly it's probably the regulator or the brushes which are built-in to the regulator. Re: 30 days to B_A_P

Final result (radio isn't pushed in as far as it could go.)

Re: 30 days to B_A_P

Wow! Native-texan reminded me that this is the 19th NOT the 26th like I had written down. Soooo, I can still get there. I need to farm out the kids. The cabby is currently beheaded and not ready for prime time so I'll bring the Jetta which is fine since it's getting good mileage. But that means I ne...

Re: MkII peoples

They're not very accurate, certainly not accurate enough to tune a turbo system. You might discern when the system goes way off range but you'll find it'll be changing constantly and not of much use. These gauges and other lower priced ones use the existing O2 sensor for their signal. Real tuning sy...

If you have access to a vacuumn guage check to see if you have about 15-20 mmHg at idle if not you either have a horrible leak or the timing is retarded.
