Re: 81 cabby 1.7 5 speed/ bosch fuel punp (CIS)

Well I figured out my pressure problem, the shut off valve was not working properly on the test guage. I put the single hose and got 85, pulled a washer and got 70. Now I have the the number one injector spraying while the others are not. Number 1 is not supposed to spray. I swapped injectors (1 and...

Re: 81 cabby 1.7 5 speed/ bosch fuel punp (CIS)

thank you Briano, that worked and I got the proper fittings. I replaced a bosch with a bosch. see pictures. Now I need to get my pressures correct. I get 85 psi at the out put of the fuel filter (see pictures) but with valve closed in the normal test location I only get 55 lbs according to test docu...

81 cabby 1.7 5 speed/ bosch fuel punp (CIS)

I am having trouble getting 75 psi with test valve closed, new fuel filter, I purchased a bosch replacement (napa) and the output is for a banjo fitting with a special cap/nut. The pump on the car must have been an after market and it has a hose fitting. Does anyone know where to get the banjo fitti...

81 cabby 1.7 CPR rebuild

I finally found the pressure gauge and adapters to run the pressure test and I discovered a couple of things right off, plenty of pressure on inlet of fuel filter but not so much on outlet. (45 - 50) going to replace filter, open valve to test cpr and pressure to high (40) took cpr apart found scree...

Re: 81 cabby 1.7 5 speed

Briano

If you were to look for fittings in our area. I have 1/4 npt or just hose requiring a fitting one is 12mm 1.5 male and the other is 12mm 1.5 female with inverted flair, like would fit on top of a fuel injector.

Re: 81 cabby 1.7 5 speed

Well guys I am an old man and memory can be a causality. Early in my project I found an 82 cabby and one of the things I took was the instrument cluster from the dash. The only difference I saw were the up shift light and speedo cable was a clip on. Today I have resurrected the original and will try...

Re: 81 cabby 1.7 5 speed

There is a o-ring on that screw, count the turns to back it out. Write that number down, and then go to a good hardware store and get a new o-ring.
Thank You will do.

81 cabby 1.7 5 speed

Ok guys I am going after the fuel system, I have ordered a guage and o-rings and inserts. read up on the different proceedures. I have been told that a 81 rabbit convertible does no have an internal pump in the fuel tank is this true? secondly the idle screw on the throttle body, is it ok that I can...

Briano
Do you have a fuel pressure gauge rig? If yes would it be available for me to use? I will try and ring out the fuel system then tackle the timing and rich/lean settings.

Re: More questions 81 cabby 1.7 gas 5mt

A few question if I may. Have you checked your frame to battery for voltage drop? Would I measure voltage across battery (- to +) then measure negative (frame) to battery (+) (Is that what you mean?) In the CIS instructions is states that the Idle should be around 900. I was not able to get it that ...

Re: More questions 81 cabby 1.7 gas 5mt

well guys it was a disappointing weekend. I have no vac leaks, instruments working, fan switch tested and switching around 190 degrees new oil pressure switch. tried using a dwell on the injector/air box got it around 45, the problem was if I tried to lower the idle (with screw on the throttle body,...

Re: More questions 81 cabby 1.7 gas 5mt

Phil I have been using the visio drawing I found on one of the forums. I really like Briano idea because I always get a back ache when I try to mess with the fuse panel. I always get nervous when I see black tape and wire crimps, this harness has a number of areas of just bare wire with tape and bar...
