Salvage yard?

Three years ago when the daughter got her first Cabby. I found an awesome salvage/junkyard online. I think they were outwest. I want to say Arizona or California but I honestly don't remember. They had tons of older VWs and would post new arrivals on line. I was hoping to find them again to see if I...

Sloppy shifter

New car has sloppy shifter and pops out of 4th. What should we be looking for? We'll probably start with shift linkage and bushings but we had replaced those when her 87 suffered with sloppy shifting and there was no improvement. This is the kit we used. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VW-Rabbit-Convert-5-S...

Re: Are your Seat Belts slow?

Don't think it was impact damage. He hit her at the wheel and front of door. But, she says she doesn't really remember her seat belts ever really "catching" her. Maybe they were just worn out. But I did mention this groovy swap to my husband who is equally concerned that she have working s...

Re: Are your Seat Belts slow?

Hey Brian! Will this achieve the desired effect of having the seat belts "catch" in the event of an impact? My daughters 87 was T boned last Saturday and her seat belt did not "catch" She has a nice black eye and belt burn on her left cheek from the belt and she hit the right sid...

Re: Need more help. Big surprise, huh?

Thanks for looking. Is it a junk yard part only? Can I get it elsewhere? I don't even know what it's called. I don't think I could google cabby crack pipe! No telling what would come up. Also, clamp on the steering bearing is not working. It is already loose and fallen down again. Any other id...

Re: Need more help. Big surprise, huh?

I'd be more than happy to take that part off your hands, if you find it. Hubby said the girl's was so brittle, the T part just broke off in the hose.

As for the steering bearing, the girl's is coming apart. Still the same fix?

Need more help. Big surprise, huh?

Looking for these parts. Don't even know what to call one of them but it broke and now needs to be replaced. It is highlighted with red in the pic below http://www.maro.net/stephanie/vacuumt.jpg And the other one is steering related. It seems to be parts 22 and 23 of the image below. Hubby says the ...

Re: engine running rough

We're doing much better and the girl finally got to drive her car to school this morning for the first time in about 2 months. Seems the residual rough idle was vacuum leaks. And a loose fuel injector. Got new seals on the way which will hopefully take care of the fuel injector issue. Now we have a ...

Re: engine running rough

Definitely something to look into, but would it run smoothly at first if it was plugs or wires? Hubby says it runs like a dream right after starting it and then it is like someone flips a switch and it is running on 3 cylinders.

Re: engine running rough

Husband says not distributor. He's tried adjusting it when engine warm. Also, adjusted timing belt yesterday. Went one tooth either way and that didn't change it. Did find the cold start injector unplugged but that didn't fix it either. Must have bumped it when checking earlier. He says it actually ...

engine running rough

To refresh your memory. 87 Cabby. Top end engine work. Had initial trouble with timing. Seem to have taken care of the timing issue. She starts fine and runs great for a few minutes then all of a sudden, sounds like she's missing. Is there a sensor or something we need to check? Any suggestions? Ste...

need part of shift mechanism

I need the relay lever and shaft as seen in Figure 4.2 exploded view of shift mechanism in the Bentley manual under Manual Transmission and clutch. Must be in excellent condition. Will need shipped to 30619. We found the one in daughter's car has gone without bushings for so long the bottom part of ...
