Re: Shave Your Door Handles

I think Briano is on the money O.o  How much does the kit cost? The locks aren't really used anymore correct? It'd be pretty cool if there was a sensor in the door and something in your pocket that triggered it, when you walk really close it triggers the door, then have a keyless start syte...

Re: Shave Your Door Handles

That's pretty nice, can the doors only be opened with the remotes or is there some sort of sensor that you put your hand next to?

I think if there were only remotes to open the doors it would be sort of a pain for passengers and or you(the driver).

Re: 92 cabriolet, auto

Not that I know anything about the low idle. But it's good to hear of people on here living in IL. I live about an hour from you in Champaign.
Do you know if the "pull a part" junkyard(Bryants?) in Danville has vw cabriolets or rabbits?

Re: buying cars with no title

Thanks guys for the input..

The guy totally blew me off and didn't want to give me the vin numbers, so I'm just going to get parts that I need.

buying cars with no title

Hey guys, it's been a while since I have been on here but bear with me. So I put an ad on Craigslist for parts car wanted for my vw cabriolet. A guy responded and has a more or less stripped rabbit with an engine and a cabby with no engine. I was originally thinking about just buying the parts off o...

Re: seat covers

Are you planning on getting rid of your current carpet?

My carpet is basically cut into sections(looks terrible), so if you are just throwing yours away I would love to get my hands on it.

Re: Squealing AC?

I was getting some squealing, then I noticed the large bolt on the bottom of the alternator was missing. Fixed now.

for the strain problem on your a/c, you could drop the top and drive it around.

Re: cooling fan stuck on

ya, that's not all that bright. I did that about two weeks ago. :D The battery had a decent charge in it last night, the relay was not connected so it couldn't have killed it. :banghead: Does anyone have a wiring diagram of the two speed fan system? My source only seems to have the single speed fan....

Re: cooling fan stuck on

Finally got some time to work on it now that it's dark. The car's battery was dead this morning (not sure why, the relay for the fan was unplugged). After recharging the battery I unplugged the cooling fan thermo switch on the lower left of the radiator and it stopped the fan. So I am thinking I nee...

Re: cooling fan stuck on

ooh, ok. I did notice a bit of rust and corrosion in some of the relays. I checked most of them and found the reason for my rough idle and hard starting sometimes. The fuel injection power supply relay was totally shot. It works quite well now. anyways... back to the stinking fan I figured out a few...

Re: cooling fan stuck on

I pulled out the silver relay on the left hand side of the car-the wires run to the fan. And the fan stopped. I think the relay is ok(it clicks when I insert it meaning it is switching over). So... What drives that relay?
