Re: Fuel tank leaks........

Briano's tips are great. A friend and I did my 87 Cabby tank last year and figured it out -- it just too longer. The job's a messy hassle, but not impossible. It took us about 4 hours.

Re: Squealing AC?

Wow -- you are amazing -- not only in the detail of your reply and documentation, but that is the cleanest engine I've ever seen.

I'll take a look at the compressor belt this weekend.

Thanks again!

Re: Squealing AC?

I don't actually know what is causing the squealing sound -- belt or compressor. Looking under the hood with the engine running, the sound seems to be coming from the compressor. The AC doesn't work anyway, so I'm hoping I can just let the compressor freewheel. Can the compressor be unplugged in some way to accomplish...

Re: Patching the top

Thanks for the replies -- and the encouragement ;)

I don't hold any illusions this is an easy permanent fix. But hopefully it'll buy me a little time until I can do it right.

Patching the top

I've got an 87 Cabby. There are two small tears in the top (about the size of a nickle) and the seams in the back are starting to rip (about 2", right where the roof begins to bend down towards the rear window. Someday, when I have a garage and some time, I'll replace the top. But until then, I...
