Re: Clutch

Yeah, I certainly don't have any freeplay, even with the cable being adjusted to maximum length. Also, I can't move the arm by hand at all. I'm fairly certain it's sitting lower than 90 degrees too, which I guess means new clutch. Thanks for that link.

Clutch

I think I know the answer to this already, but I don't want to admit that I need to replace the clutch. It was slipping, but I thought that since there was no slack in the cable that it just needed adjustment. Well the plastic adjustment sleeve was messed up and the locknut frozen to the threads so ...

Sounds like the only issue will be actually finding one that's the right size then. I have to think there's something out there that'll fit.

new clock

My clock is broken, so I thought I'd replace it with one that can give me the outside temperature as well. Has anyone seen something like this that would fit in the clocks normal spot?

Re: Top Struts

I got the replacement struts from McMaster yesterday. It took less than 2 days somehow. Anyway, went to install them, and of course, the bottom pivots have been removed. Should have figured to look before ordering. Any suggestions on where to get those other than trying the classifieds at vwvortex?

Re: Top Struts

Thanks. I definitely don't have any struts. I assume I can replace those with the top still on?

Top padding

My cabriolet didn't have any padding in between the top and headliner when I bought it, and now that I'm replacing the top, I'm deciding if I need to add some or not. Is there any reason aside from insulation that the padding needs to be there?

Top Struts

Can someone tell me where the top struts are located and if you can see them with the top up, down, etc? I'm not convinced I actually have any.
