Re: Swapping Seats

I don't remember on cabbys but on everything else rabbit jettas etc the seat release (seat slide lever) is on the opposite side of the seat from 83-84 down the lever faces the door 83- 84 up the lever faces the tunnel were your shifter is mounted. I believe 83 is the cutoff year for this or mid 83 S...

Re: Substitution for auxiliary air valve?

I read somewhere that if you take the valve off spray a bunch of pb blaster or wd40 in there.

Then you supossed to let it sit for awhile and soak, it will free things up inside I have not tried this yet.

any one done this??

Re: curious what weight oils everyone puts in their bunnies.

My 1989 cabby stock original motor with 320k ish had the low oil pressure problem with the 10/30 I have been running 20/50 for a couple of years now haven't had any issues, lower oil consumption too. I don't really believe there is a right or wrong answer it is what works for you and youre car.

Re: scirocco springs

Also just to clear it up the round headlight vs square isn't always true. All cabbys, early jettas, dashers, roccos and rabbits till about 78 were built in germany. The westy rabbits went into production in 78 in the states pretty much all rabbits and caddys from 79 on for the U.S market were made in ...

Re: scirocco springs

I have a friend that has worked at various vw dealerships around the PNW for a long time and he says that cabby springs are actually stiffer than other cars. I didn't believe it at first but a cabriolet is actually heavier than a hardtop car because all the extra metal used to reinforce the strength...
