Re: New Job

The trip was last minute for us as well. I had scheduled Wed and Thur to get ready for the show and Tuesday when I was fixing and installing the tranny in the Cabby the boss calls and asked me to work Thur. On Wednesday the car broke down on the north side of ATL. A wire on the fuel sending unit bro...

Re: 1984 Rebuild

When I had the windshield installed in my 93 it took a good bit of pushing to get it to seat. The glass guy said part of the issue was going from a glue in to a press in. He used soapy water and wd40 to help it slide in and it still took.both of us to get it in. I pushed the glass from the center wh...

Re: wheel bearings

Brian thanks for the reply. I would like to get the kit from German auto, but can't chance shipping now. My goal is to make it to BAP next week. Every year I always end up down to the wire to make it. I always end up needing to fix somthing. Is anyone from TRF going to come this year?

wheel bearings

Well it is time to relpace the front wheel bearings on my 93 Cab. I have read the write up in neo bentlley but have a few questinons. I plan on buying the harbor freight threaded rod tool so I don't need to remove the knuckle. Should I grease the outside of the bearing to help it press in? Also is i...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

German auto parts generally sells good parts, but I don't want to vouch for the quality of a part I have not used yet. I am using an oe flange off my 81 Rabbit now. Thanks for the input I will be buying those flanges in the future for my other mk1 cars. Also just a note from experience the metal the...

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Brian my offer still stands to send you a metal heater flange from a mk2. They are a direct replacement for the plastic Cabby ones. German auto now sells a metal thermostat flange. (I can't vouch for the quality of them yet) For the front head flange I found one of a early 90s Fox. It uses a threade...

Re: reving reverse

I would check what Brian said to but one thing that comes to mind is engine and Trans mounts. If the engine moves enough it could pull the throttle open causing the engine to rev up.

Re: The past week in Car repiar

Brian if your car still fails for nox you may need an o2 sensor. I did a lot to my 93 to try to pass but it was running stupid lean causing high nox. One trick to make it pass is to set ignition timing a few degrees after tdc. I wouldn't run it long that way but it will get you to pass smog.

Re: intermittent miss

Well I did some checking and found I am showing 0 resistance from positive to negitive on the coil. Bently gives the spec for resistance. I replaced the batery to frame and frame to trans grounds. All other grounds read 0 resistance even when I move and wiggle them. I was wondering what cables to us...

intermittent miss

Well we had a great BAP this year. I missed all the TRFers this year but pulled in 2nd place after geting the top done (no rear window) Fri at 1AM. Well we left the show to head to Knoxville TN and got about 50 miles away and the engine started to randomly miss. Parked at a rest area for about 15 mi...

Re: A/C on a Non A/C

The pic is of my car. I may be changing my ingnition coil soon so I can pop the rain tray and get a pic when I do. I can tell you the factory a/c cars I have seen have the blower intake on the passenger side of the fire wall and mine (factory non a/c) is center. I used the water pump and alt. Pulley...

Re: rear top cable problem

Brian thanks for the adivice. I thought it was just the side that needed to be trimed but when I saw that diagram it made all sense to me. Thanks for the great write up. My top is all installed I just need to put the window in. By the way is anyone going to BAP this year? I just got my top done in t...
