Re: Fuel pump
That's kinda funny, because I'm having the exact same problem. Except now it'll only start and run after it's set for about a day. If you turn it off, and restart it, it won't start.

Fuel Pump Relay
I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to test the fuel pump relay without taking it into a shop? Also, what's the easiest way to check and see if the in-tank fuel pump is bad, or the external one? Thanks

Idle question
Is it normal for my Cabby to idle at 3,000 when in 5th gear doing 60? Just curious. Thanks!

Re: Quick Question
Wow thanks, that was really helpful information. The guy I'm getting them from is charging me 70$ shipped. Which is a pretty good deal from what you tell me. Everyone here on this forum is so awesome. My boyfriend and I were just talking about how anytime I ask a question, everyone gets so in-depth ...

Quick Question
I'm purchasing the exterior trim pieces for my 87' Cabby off of the VWVortex classifieds. If they're in good condition - what's the usual asking price for them? I just want to make sure that I'm not getting ripped off.

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Thanks. I definitely will see if I can find out what type of alarm system it is, it keeps me from doing a lot of crap and it gets irritating. I would go look now, but I had to leave my car at work because the windshield wipers wouldn't work! We're going to pop a new fuse in it and see if that works ...

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Thank you very much. I was just totally bummed when my boyfriend found all the shitty wiring. I new my car was going to be a pain to fix up, but not that big of a pain. I have big dreams for Missy. *sigh*

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Everyone keeps saying get a bentley. We don't have them around here so I'm going to have to get it on line. From how much you guys talk about it on here, seems like its a good one to have.

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Thanks for your help! I got a Chilton, but it's confusing and doesn't have much information on that sort of stuff. We FINALLY got the stereo in. One of the wires was bad so we found a good one to connect it to. Problem now - The brights indicator doesn't work, and one bright is out - which I'm hopin...

Re: My New Cabby!
Hello! Sorry I haven't replied to your post, I haven't been on here in a while. I actually picked up this Cabby from my boyfriend's brother-in-law. I just got my 01 Ford Mustang repossessed and I was in serious need of transportation. It sucks when you have only 1 vehicle around the house, mind you ...

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Thanks for the information. My boyfriend told me that the original wires to the speakers, stereo etc, are not there anymore, and that the alarm system has EVERYTHING basically hooked up to it. So now I can't do things such as lock my door, because they disabled it so that the regular key will not wo...

Re: Going Crazy - Save Me!
Okay so maybe he's not pulling out the old alarm system, he just said that EVERYTHING runs to it. And that there are fatty gaged wires going to everything. Then on top of that he just told me that he didn't cut anything out, but that now when you lock the doors, the locks pop up by themselves. What ...

Going Crazy - Save Me!
I think I have seen it all! My boyfriend just bought me a deck for my 87 cabby. We just got home with it and decided to check out the wiring and OMG!! There are 192,385,785,743 (over exaggerating) wires EVERYWHERE THAT HAVE NO HOME!!! Has anyone had this issue? There's no stereo in it currently. Wha...

Original Parts
Hey All! I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, BUT! Does anyone know a good cheap website where I can purchase original parts for my 87 cabby? I'm looking for front door panels, shift knob, exterior molding, etc?

Re: Front seats won't tilt forward
I was having the same problem until my boyfriend figured it out, last night actually! On the side of each seat, if yours is like mine - there should be like a big knob, if you turn it one way or the other, it'll tilt the back forwards or backwards (up and down or however you describe it)
